Come One, Come All…

Thursday, July 29th, 2010
The D.CREW hit the O.C. Fair last night. It was a good way to end a long work day. We kept hearing rumors about all types of bizarre foods like Deep Fried Butter, Chocolate Dipped Bacon and Other Crazy Heart Clogging Treats. Fortunately we didn’t find any of the “Crazy Food” booths, but we did grab a Pink’s Dog and Funnel Cakes at the end of the night. It is hand downs a good time & if your in CA you have to stop by the O.C.

Ladies & Gentlemen… Ashley Keene

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Last Friday, while at Project Ethos, I had the privilege of meeting an amazingly talented artist by the name of Ashley Keene. If you don’t know who she is, I think it’s time you got acquainted. Ashley Keene A.K.A. Shlee, is an American born female artist from Southern California. Growing up near the beach, her artwork is very much influenced by the local surf culture and ocean vistas. In fact, most of Shlee’s personal favorite work is unbound by the traditional canvas, as she prefers to paint on surfboards of all shapes and sizes. It is common for Shlee to create an extravagant scene of clouds and aged cliffs, surrounding them with an ocean of vivid, bright colors. Inspired by nature’s curves and beauty, Shlee often depicts her favorite animals, but adds her own creative geometric and colorful touch, making the final piece surreal and eye catching. Inspired by the likes of Drew Brophy, M.C. Escher, Salvador Dali, and Van Gogh, Shlee likes to bend the traditional rules of nature, and morph skeletons, eyes, waves, animals, and technology into her own unique tapestry of color. Focusing on influential historical characters, Shlee creates modern abstract portraits, capturing their personality and emotions, and transforming them into bright colors and lines
